Session 23 – Ecclesiastes & Song of Songs

This study, through the books of Ecclesiastes & Song of Songs, taught by Pastor Barry Forder, is the 23rd session of our ‘Through-the-Bible-in-a-Year’ series recorded during 2014 as part of our Sunday morning family services.

In the book of Ecclesiastes, the wisest man who ever lived, king Solomon of Israel, draws from his own personal experience to conclude that, after sampling the best this world has to offer, with all of its promise to fulfill us, there is neither happiness or purpose in this life, if lived apart from a relationship with God – made possible through Jesus Christ.

If the sub-title for Ecclesiastes is ‘How to live’, the sub-title for Solomon’s Song of Songs should be ‘How to Love!’.

Dr Chuck Missler said “It is perhaps the most difficult and mysterious book in the entire Bible”, yet Charles Spurgeon & D.L. Moody listed this book as their favorite in the Bible!

One of God’s great mysteries is the love of a man and a women united in marriage, and Paul tells us that marriage itself is actually given to us as a picture representing Christ and His Bride (the Church) – see Ephesians 5:22-32.

May this overview prompt you to undertake your own study of these divinely inspired books.
