Second Kings Chapter 8-9

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of the second book of Kings, the 12th book in the Bible.  Taught by our pastor, Barry Forder, at our Sunday morning service on Sunday 19th  July 2015. In these chapters (8-9) we see God working behind the scenes (as He so often does in our lives), to protect and then provide for the widow woman whose son Elisha had healed. We are then given some key details to understand the history of the time, as we see a new king come to the throne in Syria, and the end of Omri’s dynasty in Israel, largely on account of the wickedness of Ahab and Jezebel. Hazel will become king of Syria, Jehu will take the Northern kingdom of Israel, and by the end of chapter 9, Judah will be ready for the next king in the Davidic dynasty.
